Roscommon and District League v Galway League SATURDAY 14th November Venue BALLINASLOE KO 7 PM

Next Saturday evening the Roscommon and District League take on the Galway league at the Curragh grounds Ballinasloe at 7.00 PM in the second round of this seasons Oscar Traynor Cup Competition. This season the Roscommon and District League are in a group comprising the Mayo Galway and Clare leagues with two of the four to advance to the knock out stages. They have already played the Mayo league away at Castlebar and now have the remaining games at a home venue. Unfortunately with work being carried out on the surface of the two pitches at the league grounds Lecarrow the remaining two games will be played at Club venues. The Roscommon and District league team managers and officials were very pleased with their performance away to the Mayo League but at the same time were disappointed to concede an equaliser four minutes into injury time at the end of the game. Overall the team played really well from their Goalkeeper Noel Fallon and defenders Des Hope Cormack Clogher James Horan and Enda Kenny in top form. The centre of the park included Darragh Concannon Andy Higgins Kevin Kenny and Shane Duffy who needed all their experience against the Mayo midfield while Ethan Keogh scored their goal against Mayo with others such as Liam Lynch and John Coyne they performed well.
The Management team of Enda Concannon and Sean Mc Donnell may make some changes to the team for this home game but they are lucky to have a strong panel to pick from.
Twelve months ago the teams played at the Eamon Deacy Park Galway with the home side came out on top on a 3 – 1 scoreline that did not do justice to the Roscommon and District League players. They played most of the game with ten men when they had a player sent off and only conceded two goals in the last three minutes of the game. A similar effort from the Roscommon and District league side next Saturday evening is sure to see them take all three points and almost surely a place in the knock out stages.

The Roscommon and District league will be hoping to go one better next Sunday and take all three points.
