Roscommon & District League Round Up by Vincent Brookes

Moore United go three points clear at the top of the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District league following a hard earned 1–0 win over neighbours Skyvalley Rovers at Falty park Moore. The home side had two great chances to take the lead in the first ten minutes but for the remainder of the half it was Skyvalley Rovers who created the better chances and should have taken the lead. The second half was closer with the deciding score coming with twenty minutes left to play. Mark Nicholson chased a long ball over the Skyvalley Rovers defence and gave the otherwise excellent Hardiman no chance with a close range volley.

Last season's runners up Ballaghaderreen and Cloonfad United were involved in an eleven goal thriller at Cloonfad before Ballaghaderreen came out on top on a 7–4 scoreline. When the teams last played at this venue Ballaghaderreen were in a good position to win the League championship but were surprisingly beaten. Dillon Edwards scored twice for Ballaghaderreen in the opening three minutes of the game. However David Keavney and Nigel Prendergast levelled the game before half time. The second half opened with four goals scored in the first eight minutes. Dillon Edwards scored another two within five minutes and Jason Coyne and David Keavney replied for Cloonfad within three minutes. As the half progressed Josh Gallagher, Cathal Horan and Gerry Ward added three more for Ballaghaderreen who have won three and lost one of their four games played.

Title holders Ballinasloe Town beat Ballymoe F C 2–0 at Ballinasloe. With fifteen played Liam Lynch crossed to Mark Duffy who gave Ballinasloe Town a 1–0 lead. Sixteen minutes from the end of the game Darragh Concannon got on the end of a Liam Lynch cross to make sure of the three points. They now have six points from four games.

In round two of the Connacht Cup Loughglynn United received a walk over Mulranny United while the Roscommon and District league Division 1 joint leaders Brazukas were beaten 5–4 after extra time away to the Mayo side Bangor Hibs. Vando scored three and Marcos one.

In the Connacht Shield first round Division 1 side Shiven Rovers beat the Mayo Division 1 side Snugboro United 3–1 at Newbridge. Eric Walsh scored the opener for Shiven Rovers in the first minute of the second half and Aidan Mc Inerney added their second ten minutes later. The Mayo side pulled one back before Joe Horan made sure of a place in round two when he scored again for Shiven Rovers.

The Division 2 side C P Ajax were beaten 4–1 away to the Bearna/Furbo side. Paul Mee scored for the Castleplunket side.

Kilkerrin United beat Swinford 2–0 at Kilkerrin. Enna Boyle and an own goal accounted for Kilkerrin two goals.

The Ballinlough side Lough Harps were beaten 6–0 away to the Mayo side Kiltimagh/Knock United.

The Glenamaddy side Glen Celtic were beaten 4–2 after extra time away to Manulla. Eugene Morgan and Simon Stachurski scored for the losers.

Ballinasloe Town and Rahara Rovers drew 1- 1 in their Division 1 game at Ballinasloe. Kevin Flanagan gave the home side a 1–0 lead after nine minutes of play and Paddy Fallon scored an equaliser with sixteen minutes left to play.

In Division 2 Moylough 79 recorder their second successive win when they beat Moore United 3-0 at Moore. Peter Kelly, Marcus Finn and Michael Kelly scored in the second half for Moylough 79.

Roscommon United beat K C Celtic 4–3 at Roscommon. Jamie Bracken scored two and Adrian Hanley and Brian Mongan added one each for the winners.
