Roscommon & District League Round Up by Vincent Brookes

Dysart and Moore United share the lead of the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League after four series of games with both teams having won two and drawn two of their games.

On Sunday Dysart beat Cloonfad United 6 – 1 at Dysart. The home side took an early lead but Cloonfad were soon back on level terms. Just before half time Dysart struck twice and added three more after the break. John Coyne scored two and James Coyne, Keith Waldron, Paddy Neary, and Keith Tansey added one each.

Moore United were 3 – 0 winners over Ballymoe FC at Moore. Enda Kelly broke the deadlock just before half time and Mark Nicholson and Alan Duffy added two more after the break.

Skyvalley Rovers and Ballaghaderreen were involved in a five goal thriller at Taughmaconnell before Ballaghaderreen deservedly won 3 – 2. Gerry Ward scored for the winners almost at the half time break and Alan Naughton levelled the game within five minutes of the restart. Shane Duffy restored the Ballaghaderreen lead with fifteen played in the second half but Ethan Keogh replied for the home side. With seventeen minutes left to play Shane Duffy restored the Ballaghaderreen lead and only some very good saves from Owen Hardiman the Skyvalley Rovers net minder denied them a couple more.

The Castlerea Celtic v M D Town game was postponed when the floodlights failed at Castlerea.

Shiven Rovers and Brazukas share the lead of the Norio’s Take away Division 1 with both teams on ten points from four games played.

The Newbridge side Shiven Rovers beat Glen Celtic 2 – 0 at Glenamaddy. Aidan McInerney gave the Newbridge side a 1 - 0 lead with thirty played when he cut in from the left wing went past two defenders before slotting the ball to the corner of the Glen Celtic net. Twenty minutes from the end of the game Michael Doyle made sure of the points when he headed a free kick to the Glen Celtic net.

Brazukas beat Ahascragh United 2 -0 at Ahascragh. With just three minutes played Marcos created an opening for Vando and he gave the Brazilian side the lead. With sixty one played Vando returned the favour and this time Marcos scored.

Kilkerrin United had a 3 – 1 win over Ballaghaderreen in their Division 1 game at Ballaghaderreen to make it two wins out of two played. With fifteen played Cathal Moran was fouled and Jason Ward converted the resultant spot kick. Thomas Ward levelled the game when he scored five minutes later. With twenty two played Conor Moran restored the Kilkerrin lead and TJ Smith added a third for the visitors.

The Milltown Dunmore side MD Town go top of the Killeen’s Sports Grounds Division 2 following a hard earned 3 – 2 win over Moylough at Moylough. Chris Mc Tighe scored their first and James Maloney added two more for the winners. Marcus Finn scored both goals for the losers.

The Castleplunket side C P Ajax beat Lough Harps 4 – 2 at Tarmon. Darren Boyle scored two and Gerry Leech and Paul Mee one each for the winners and Kieran Murphy scored both goals for the Ballinlough side.

Skyvalley Rovers beat Roscommon United 3 – 2 at Lisnamult. The home side missed a good chance to take the lead early in the game and then conceded two goals scored by Mark White, Tony McEvilly within a short period. Bernard Keogh pulled a goal back midway through the half when he headed a Liam Cooke cross to the visitors net. Skyvalley Rovers increased their lead through Nigel Brooks before half time and while Liam Cooke added a second for Roscommon Town midway through the second half they just failed to get an equaliser despite having the majority of play. and scored for the winners

Cloonfad United and St Johns Athletic drew 1 – 1 at Cloonfad. With Liam Cregg in top form Cloonfad United took the lead when Darren O'Malley slotted a goal with sixty one played. St Johns introduced the previously injured Thomas Hurley with fifteen left to play and he won a point for his side with two minutes left to play.
