Roscommon and District League
Round Up

After a long and sometimes difficult season which was often disrupted by the Covid Virus the Roscommon and District League 2021/22 football season finally came to a close on Sunday.
Castlerea Celtic who finished Premier Division Runners up in the previous football season were forced to play and beat a good Ballinagare Manor United side to hold onto their place in the Premier Division next season. This Premier Division / Division 1 Promotion play off went all the way to extra time before Castlerea Celtic overcame the Division 1side who finished in third place in Division 1. In a fine game of football Castlerea Celtic took the lead after thirty five minutes of play. Ronan Raftery and Ronan Curran combined to create an opening for Patrick Egan who scored from close range. Just before the half time whistle Castlerea Celtic were awarded a penalty kick and Ronan Curran converted. With Cian Galvin Tom Ward and Alan King in fine form Ballinagare / Manor were back in the game when they won a penalty kick with fifty three played and Tom Ward converted. The losers had a player sent odd with eighty played but got a deserved equaliser in time added on at the end of the game. Tom Ward was the goal scorer.
The game went to extra time with man of the match Ronan Curran scoring the decider.
