Round Up

Due to the combination of frost, rain and a storm only a very few games were played at the weekend.
In the only game played in the Premier Division Ballaghaderreen took a big step towards winning this seasons Premier Division Championship when they beat nearest challengers Boyle Celtic 2 – 1 at Boyle.
Overall, the teams were well matched with the teams played really attractive football. Conor Kelly gave the home side a 1 – 0 lead at half time. With sixty-eight minutes played Thomas Greene replied for Ballaghaderreen and the ever-retriable Danny Browne scored the winner with sixteen minutes left to play. Having reached the halfway stage Ballaghaderreen are three points ahead of Boyle Celtic and have a game less played. St Johns Athletic Ballinasloe Town and last seasons champions Ballinasloe Town are still in with a chance of catching the leaders but will need to improve on their earlier results.

In the Reserve Division Dunmore Town beat Boyle Celtic 4 – 1 at Dunmore. A well taken Raman Saman finish gave the home side a 1- 0 lead with only wo minutes played. Shortly afterwards Raman Saman was fouled, and Ben Glynn converted the resultant penalty kick. Luca Roddy scored for Boyle Celtic early in the second half but Michael Harnett added a third following some excellent play. Kieran Mc Ilhenry added a fourth for Dunmore after a fantastic through ball by Tiago Conclaves.

Skyvalley Rovers drew 2 – 2 with CP Ajax at Taughmaconnell. Jack Moore and Padraig Downey scored for the home side and Darren Boyle and Thomas Callaghan scored for the Castleplunket side.

Shiven Rovers beat Roscommon United 4 – 1 at Lisnamult. Aigars Berzins replied for the Roscommon Town side.

In the Women’s League Shiven Rovers ladies got back to winning ways when they beat Ballinasloe Town 3 – 1 in a game played at Newbridge on Saturday evening.
With just five minutes played Laura Farrell and Muirne Kilcommins created an opening for Lucy Dunican who volleyed to the bottom corner of the net. Sheenagh Martyn added a second from a very tight angle four minutes later. Ballinasloe Town never gave up and Natoya Fogarty pulled a goal back with a fine volley just before half time. Both teams created chances in the second half before Muirne Kilcommins sealed the win when she added a third for Shiven Rovers near the end. They now play Cam Celtic Cam Celtic this weekend at newbridge.
