Roscommon and District League
Round up 14 January 24
The Roscommon and District League representative side travelled to Castlebar on Sunday to play the Mayo League in the last game in this seasons Oscar Traynor Cup Competition. Having already failed to qualify for thee knock out stages of the competition the side had little to play for and it was no real surprise when they were beaten 4 – 1 by a Moyo side who look good to make good progress in the competition. The Roscommon and District league side started well and while they created four good chances in the opening minutes of the game they were rocked when Mayo broke away to score. The home side added two more before half time and a third early in the second half. Callum Andrews pulled a goal back for the losers, but it came too late and the winners added a fourth near the end. While the result was disappointing overall the management team were very happy with the commitment of the players and all can look forward with confidence to next seasons competition.

The away side regrouped and Darren O 'Hanlon drew level with 15 minutes to go to ensure both sides came away from the derby with a point each. The game was played in good spirits with a draw being the fair result.

After the break Moore avoided any possible complacency by adding two more goals via Brian Sheerin and Andy Hussey's second of the day.
The final quarter of the game became somewhat scrappy resulting in a share of 4 goals between both sides. Jack Summer and Mark Gannon adding their names to the score sheet for Moore and Kavana Donlon and Warlens Marques replied for Roscommon United.

In the Roscommon and District League Women’s League Kilkerrin United are top of the points tables after playing games. However, Boyle Celtic Cam Celtic and Ballaghaderreen are still very much in contention.
Kilkerrin United beat St Cuans / Ahascragh United 6 – 0 at Ahascragh. The game was fairly close in the first half but with the visitors tiring the Kilkerrin scored four times after the break. Caitlin Boyle and Ciara Boyle scored two each and Mya Grogan and Eva Noone added one each for the winners.

Ballaghaderreen and Cam Celtic drew 2 – 2 in a thriller at Ballaghaderreen in a repeat of he previous weeks clash, this time in Ballaghaderreen. This was a very close encounter ending in a two all draw which was probably a fair result on the day.
The first half was very close with both teams having chances but both keepers kept clean sheets for the first half. On the resumption a bit of confusion in the Cam defence gave Ballaghaderreen their first opportunity to go 1 - 0 up. Cam then seemed to up their work rate and were awarded with the levelling score with 26 mins of the second half played with Alaine Morris netting for the visitors. The remainder of the game was end to end and Ballaghaderreen scored again on the break with an excellent strike giving Mollie Mc no chance in the Cam goals. Cam then pushed up and a foul on Aisling Byrne in the closing stages resulted in a penalty which was neatly put away by Marion Nolan. Cam's busy back four played very well and Katie McDonnell in the middle of the park covered every inch of grass while Karin O Boyle and Lucy Sheffield were best in attack.
