Roscommon and District League Round Up
The bad weather over the weekend caused major disruption the Roscommon and District League fixtures list with only a handful of games player.
In the D1vision 1 Northern section Cloonfad United gave themselves a real chance of promotion to Division 1 proper when they beat Kilkerrin United 7 – 1 at Cloonfad. In very bad conditions the players battled on and while Cloonfad United were comfortable winners it was only in the second half that they gained control. Sean Burke and James Brennan scored two each and Daithi Gannon Luke Ruane and Darragh Flynn added one each. Damien Mahon headed a goal for Kilkerrin United to make it 2 – 1 with thirty nine played.
While Cloonfad United lead Glen Celtic by a single point Glen Celtic have a game less played.
In Division 1 South St Johns Athletic beat Moylough 79 4 – 0 at Lecarrow. Jamie Tiernan gave them a 2 – 0 lead at half time and M J O Conor added a third before Jamie completed his hat trick.
St Johns Athletic Skyvalley Rovers and Moylough 79 are promoted to Division 1 proper with Cam Celtic / Dysart I the play off for seventh place in the newly formed Division.
In the only game played in the Women’s League Cam Celtic beat a very young St Cuans / Ahascragh United side 7 – 0 at a wind and rain swept Ahascragh. Sarah O Rourke scored three Lucy Sheffield two and Aoife Coyle and Katie Mc Donnell added one each..
