In the Raftery’s Oakland Hotel sponsored Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League Ballymoe FC provided the shock result of the weekend when they beat Castlerea Celtic 5 - 3 in the local derby game played at Castlerea. Overall the sides were well matched despite Ballymoe having to play a long period reduced to ten men following a sending off of one of their players following two yellow cards. Damien Goggins was the winner’s star player as he got a hat-trick with the last two goals coming near the end of the game.
With twenty played James Connaughton headed Ballymoe into the lead but the Castlerea defender Jack Higgins levelled the game five minutes later.
