Roscommon & District Football League Round-up by Vincent Brookes.

The Roscommon and District League Challenge Cup Final featuring Ballinasloe Town and St. Peter's FC was played on Sunday at the League ground Lecarrow but despite ninety minutes of normal time and twenty minutes of extra time neither team could score a goal. The teams will meet again at the same venue next Saturday evening with a kck off time of 6.00 PM. Next Saturday's replay will go all the way to a penalty shoot out if required.

Ballinasloe Town were the better side in the first half but St. Peter's best chance of the first half came after only ten minutes when a Mark McConnell shot was saved by Padraig Moloney. Ballinasloe Town had a few good chances to score. Garry Canavan had two good chances but shot wide. Shane Duffy had a long range volley pushed over the bar by the Peter's keeper Philip Coffey. Mark Duffy also came close but his volley was over.

St. Peter's were slightly the better side in the second half but it was Ballinasloe Town who had the first chance. Liam Lynch set up substitute Malcolm Flannery after twenty nine minutes but his shot was saved by the Peter's keeper. St. Peter's best chance of the half fell to the ever reliable Noel McGee after receiving a pass from Michael Lee but his shot was just outside the post.

In the first period of extra time Noel McGee came close to giving St. Peter's the lead but his header was into the side netting. The same player came closest to scoring in the second period of extra time also, but the sides will have to do it all over again on Saturday evening at Lecarrow.

In the Masters League, Ballinasloe Town defeated Skyvalley Rovers 4-1 while Dunmore Town had a 2-1 win over Cam Celtic.
