The third round of the New Balance sponsored FAI Junior Cup took centre stage on Sunday with three teams from the Roscommon and District League going through to Round Four from the four games played.

Premier side Ballinasloe Town beat Division One side Ballaghaderreen FC 7 – 0 at Ballinasloe. The home side were 4 – 0 up at half time and added three more after the break. Darrel Finn and Liam Lynch scored two each and Aidan Dooney, Joe Hunt and Mark Richardson added one each.

A very young Moore United travelled to Carbury FC who are currently the best team in the Sligo Leitrim League. The visitors gave it their all but were 2 – 0 down at half time before eventually losing 5 – 0. Nonetheless they were competitive for most of the game.

Castlerea Celtic beat the Sligo Premier Division side Real Tubber 8 – 0 at Castlerea. The Tubbercurry side were 2 – 0 down at half time with Castlerea Celtic adding six more after the break. Jarlath Geraghty and Paul Mee scored just before half time and Peter Farrell scored two and Declan Creaton, Eoghan O’Connell, Nathan Bligh and Ronan Curran added one each for Castlerea Celtic in the second half.

St. Peter’s FC, Athlone advanced to round four with a comfortable 4 – 0 win over Skyvalley Rovers at Onagh Park, Taughmaconnell. Two quick goals from Nial Scullion and Mark Sherlock early in the first half settled the winners and they added two more before half time through Niall Scullion and Mark McConnell. The game was even enough in the second half but no more goals were scored.

As expected Division One side CP Ajax were beaten 5 – 0 by the Sligo Leitrim Superleague side Melville United at Tarmon.

In the Raftery's Oakland Hotel sponsored Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League, Boyle Celtic go top of the points table following an 8 – 0 win over an understrength Strokestown United side at Boyle. The home side were three up at half time and ran out comfortable winners. Michael Corrigan got a hat trick, Enda Smyth added two more with Luka Roddy, Daniel Hughes and an own goal making up the remainder.

The Ballymoe FC v Kilkerrin United game was abandoned after an accidental injury to Kilkerrin United’s Keith Mahon. Damien Goggins and Michael Kenny had Ballymoe 2 – 0 up at the time. We wish Keith a speedy recovery.

Moylough ‘79 are three points clear at the top of the Norio's Takeaway Division One following a 6 – 0 win over Rahara Rovers at Rahara. The home side conceded two goals in the first half and in an attempt to get back in the game they left themselves open in the second half. Aridas and James Collevey scored in the first half for the winners and after the break Dermott Hughes, Adam Connolly and James Fahy scored three more before Aridas completed the scoring.

Ahascragh United had an impressive 3 – 2 win over Ballinasloe Town B at Ballinasloe. With no goals in the first half the game really came to life in the second. Lee Johnson headed a Colin Maloney corner kick to the home sides net three minutes into the second half and Alex Duke made it 2 – 0 when he finished off a Cian Loughrey cross with sixty five played. Kenneth Kenny and a Warren Coyne penalty kick levelled the game with seventy two played. However a long delivery from the Ahascragh goal keeper James Birch was headed to his own net by a Ballinasloe defender to give all three points to Ahascragh United.

Dunmore Town and Cam Celtic drew 2 – 2 at Dunmore. Ryan Fox and Dylan Fallon gave Dunmore a 2- 0 lead but in the last ten minutes Gareth Mulligan and David Cunniffe scored for Cam Celtic to snatch a point.

In the Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two, Castlerea Celtic maintained their challenge with a 4 – 0 win over Skyvalley Rovers at Castlerea. The home side started well and took the lead after eleven minutes when Kevin Flanagan broke through the middle to score. Six minutes later Sean Murray was at the back post to add a second. With Patrick O’Connor and Eamon Greene in top form the home side added a third through Kyle Lowry after twenty six and Patrick O’Connor completed the scoring with sixty nine played.
They are now three points behind the leaders but with a game in hand.

Roscommon United are back to winning ways following a 5 – 1 win over Shiven Rovers at Newbridge. Jamie Bracken returned from injury to score three and Carl Garvin and Michael Hanly added one each. Darragh Murphy replied for Shiven Rovers.

Glen Celtic defeated St. Cuan’s 3 – 1 at Castleblakeney and they share the lead with Manor United but with a game more played. PJ Shanks gave the Glenamaddy side a 1- 0 lead with Jordan O’Leary levelling the game before half time. Glen Celtic were in front again five minutes into the second half thanks to PJ Shanks and Sean Lawlor added their third midway through the second half to secure all three points.

Manor United came out on top in an eight goal thriller at Manor. Tom Ward brought his total to ten goals for the season when he scored three for Manor and Niall Devaney added two more. Richie Thompson, David Swift and Noel Joyce replied for Ballymoe.
