Roscommon and District league Round up by Vincent Brookes.

With nearest challengers Moore United not playing Ballinasloe Town stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League to six points following their 4 – 1 win over the Milltown Dunmore side MD Town at Ballinasloe. The home side got off to a great start when Mark Duffy scored after only five minutes of play and eight minutes later Manood Giumma added a second. Shane Duffy made 3 – 0 for the winners before Ryan Fox pulled a goal back for M D Town. Mark Duffy added his second near the end.

Castlerea Celtic are still in the title race after a 3 – 1 win over Cloonfad United at Castlerea. Peter Farrell opened the scoring for Castlerea Celtic with sixteen played but Cloonfad United replied ten minutes later through Ger Fagan. Declan Creighton gave Castlerea Celtic a 2 – 1 advantage with fifty two played and Peter Farrell sealed the win with his second ten minutes later.

Dysart and Skyvalley Rovers drew 2 – 2 at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. Despite the wind and rain both teams played good football and a point each was probably a fair result. Stephen Landy gave Skyvalley Rovers a 1 – 0 advantage at half time. Dysart were quick to recover in the second half and two goals from Ferdie Coyne within twenty minutes gave Dysart a 2 – 1 lead. The home side missed a couple of good chances to score but with ten remaining Mark Richardson got on the end of a well judged pass from Cathal Kelly and finished well.

In round two of the Challenge Cup Division 1 side Ballinasloe Town “B” beat Division 2 side Cloonfad “B” 3 – 0 at Ballinasloe. David Gavin Warren Coyne and an own goal accounted for their three.

Division 1 Champions Shiven Rovers advanced to the third round following a 4 – 0 win over a young Skyvalley Rovers second side. Keith Horan gave Shiven Rovers a 1 – 0 half time lead. The home side had a couple of good chance to level the game before Aidan Mc Inerney added a second for the Newbridge. Joe Horan added two more for the winners near the end of the game.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Castlerea Celtic collected another three points with a comprehensive 4-0 win against Ballymoe FC with Peter Farrell & Ronan Curran both on target with the latter scoring a hat-trick.

In the RDFL Challenge Cup Ballaghaderreen B had a 7-3 win over Rahara Rovers.

Lough Harps received a walk over Moylough and the remaining games were postponed due to weather conditions.
