Roscommon and District league Round up by Vincent Brookes

Ballinasloe Town continue to lead the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District league despite being held at home by third placed Ballymoe FC. The visitors started very well and were the better side for the first twenty five minutes of the game.
From the on there was little between the teams. With seventy two played Ballinasloe Town made the break through when Jordan O Leary was taken down in the Ballymoe penalty area and Darragh Concannon converted the resultant penalty kick. Ten minutes later Ballymoe were awarded a penalty kick for a clear hand ball in the penalty area and Keith Muldoon levelled the game from the penalty spot.

Second placed Moore United had a good chance of closing the gap on leaders Ballinasloe Town to two points with two games less played when they played old rivals Skyvalley Rovers at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. Moore United played with a strong wind in the first half but found themselves two goals behind at the break. Somewhat against the run of play Cathal Kelly was fouled in the Moore Penalty area with twenty four minutes played and Ethan Keogh converted the resultant penalty kick.

Kenneth Kenny won a free kick for Skyvalley Rovers with thirty five played and former Ballinasloe Town player Garry Egan volleyed to the Moore net from all of thirty meters. Moore played much better in the second half and only some excellent saves from Brian Croffey and good defending by Cormack Clogher, Damien Blackweir and Martin Lennon denied them a handful of scores. As it were Moore pulled a goal back after only six minutes when Mark Nicholson converted a penalty kick for pushing in the penalty area and with eighteen played they were back on level terms. A good cross from David Harrington was volleyed to the Skyvalley net by Paul Kelly.
Both teams had chances near the end with Alan Duffy coming closest to scoring for Moore United.

Ballaghaderreen came from behind to edge out Cloonfad United on a 2- 1 scoreline. Cloonfad were in front at half time thanks to an own goal.
