RDFL Round-up

Only one game was played in the Roscommon and District League at the weekend due to the very bad weather.
Premier Division side Ballinasloe Town beat Dysart 4 – 0 at Ballinasloe and they now look like real title contenders. They are in joint second place with Ballaghaderreen just two points behind leaders Moore United. The sides were well matched in the first half with defences by and large on top. It was always a game that the first to score would win and so it proved when Ballinasloe Town broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second half. Darragh Concannon swung the ball to the far post with a well struck free kick and David Nee headed to the Dysart net. Six minutes later Liam Lynch added a second after receiving a pass from Darragh Concannon. Jordan O'Leary added a third with sixty five played and Liam Lynch headed his second in the closing minutes of the game.

The big game next weekend will be played at Falty Park Moore where Roscommon and District League Premier side Moore United play the Cork AUL side Pearse Celtic in the sixth round of the FAI Junior Cup.
It will be one of the biggest games ever for Moore United as the winners will go through to the last sixteen on this prestigious national Competition. With over six hundred teams entering the competition it’s a great achievement for Moore United to advance to this stage of this competition. They had a 6 – 1 win in the Previous round over the mayo side Claremorris and while they are unlikely to beat the Cork side by a similar amount with a good support they should advance to the last sixteen.
