RDFL round-up for weekending 6th September by Vincent Brookes.

Newly Promoted St John's Athletic won their first point of the season following a 2 – 2 draw away to a strong Dysart side in the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District league.
While St John's were well beaten in their opening game, things now look much brighter for this relatively young Lecarrow side.
James Coyne converted a penalty kick for Dysart after ten minutes with David Mc Donnell replying for St Johns with twenty six played. JP Kelly restored the Dysart lead with twenty left to play but Michael Hannon scored for St John Athletic five minutes later.

Cloonfad United beat Ballymoe 5 – 1 at Cloonfad. The home side were 2- 0 up at half time and added a third before Ross Timothy pulled one back for the losers. Cloonfad added two more near the end. David Keavney scored two and Morgan Lyons Kieran Kiely and Luke Mc Dermott added one each for Cloonfad.

Castlerea and Moore drew 1 – 1 at Castlerea. Peter Farrell gave Castlerea Celtic a first half lead and they looked like winning all three points when Moore had a player sent off. In the last minute of the game Barry Gaffey forced the home keeper into an error and he got the equaliser.

In the Norio’s Take away Division 1 the Newbridge side Shiven Rovers had their first win of the season when they beat Ballaghaderreen second side 2 – 0 at Newbridge. Eric Walsh broke the deadlock five minutes before half time when he converted a penalty kick for the winners. Shane Harkin sealed all three points when he scored a second for Shiven Rovers with ten minutes left to play.

The home side were 4 – 0 up at half time. Conor Mc Loughlin and James Moloney scored two each and Thomas Fallon Seamus Culkeen Stephen Varley and Gavin Mularkey added one each.

Skyvalley Rovers under Managers Fintan Moore and Brian Lennon beat St Johns Athletic 4 – 0 at Lecarrow. The sides were level with twenty minutes left to play but in the closing stages first team regular Ethan Keogh scored three and Mark White one for the Taughmaconnell side.
