Roscommon & District League Round up.
Congratulations are extended to Cam Celtic's Women's team who became the first team to win the Joe Concannon Roscommon and District League Challenge Cup. It was an exciting game of football played at the League Grounds Lecarrow and could have been won by either side. The sides were level at half time but a single goal scored by Katie Nolan in the second half secured a hard earned win for Cam Celtic. After the game the Joe Concannon Memorial Cup was presented to the Cam Celtic Captain by the late Joe's daughter Mary and son Padraig.

Elsewhere the Quarter-Finals of the Joes Bar Challenge Cup took center stage with at least one surprise result. Division 1 runners up Cloonfad United beat Premier side Ballinasloe Town 3 - 0 at Cloonfad.Ballinasloe were the better side in the first half and created some good chances with Ryan Burke and Josh Mc Carthy very prominent. Cloonfad were under a lot of pressure but after the break the visitors visibly tired and Cloonfad United came very much into the game. They took the lead after sixty four minutes when Darragh Flynn converted a Shane Fagan corner kick. His brother Conor headed a second for Cloonfad five minutes later again following a cross from Shane Fagan. Luke Ruane added a third to secure a place for Cloonfad Utd. in the Semi-Final.

Castlerea Celtic are also through to the Semi - Finals and they play Cloonfad United at Lecarrow with a place in the final at stake.

Castlerea Celtic were fully tested by the Division 1 side Ballinagare / Manor United when they played at Castlerea. Again this was a really exciting game that was decided by a Darren Clabby goal which was score after three minutes of time added on at the end of the game.

Boyle Celtic are also through to the Semi-Finals following a 4 - 1 win over fellow Premier side Moylough 79 at Lecarrow. Michael Corrigan and Daniel Hughes gave Boyle Celtic a 2 - 0 half time lead. Michael Corrigan and Jake Mc Crann added two more in the second half with Alan Conway pulling a goal for a Moylough side who were much better than the score suggests.

Boyle Celtic will face Moore United in the second Semi-Final in a repeat of the League Championship decider which was won by Moore United.

Moore United beat neighbors8 Skyvalley Rovers 3 - 0 at Taughmaconnell in their Quarter-Final game. The winners missed a penalty after twenty minutes. After thirty Danny Lynch had a good effort for Skyvalley Rovers but the Moore Kerper saved well.Almost on the stroke of half time Moore went in front by way of an unfortunate own goal. Josh Lennon got a second with sixty played following a Rian Carpenter pass. Mark Lennon sealed the win when he scored for the winners in the last minute of normal time after good work by Ian Harney.

In the D K Challenge Shield Semi-Finals Cam Celtic beat Ballinasloe Town 6 - 2 at Ballinasloe. David Cunniffe scored three Gareth Mulligan two and Jack Mc Donnell one for the winners.

They will face Dunmore Town in the final after they beat Division 2 side St Cuan's Ahascragh United 3 - 1 at Dunmore. Liam O Connor scored for the losers.

In the Connacht Womens Cup Semi-Finals the Roscommon And District League side Kilkerrin United were very unlucky to lose out to the Mayo side Manulla F C. The sides were level at the break but Mannulla eventually won on a 2 - 1 scoreline.

In the Connacht Womens Shield Semi-Final Dunmore Town beat Ballaghaderreen 3 - 1 at Ballaghaderreen.
