Ballinasloe Town’s hopes of winning the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League suffered a big setback when they were beaten 4 – 3 by Ballaghaderreen in a thrilling game at Ballaghaderreen.
The home side were in front from the tenth minute but Ballinasloe Town never gave up and were still in with a chance of snatching a point until the final whistle.
Cian Mc Cann gave Ballaghaderreen a 1 – 0 lead with ten played and Danny Browne added a second for them with twenty one played. Liam Lynch pulled a goal back for the losers before half time but Paddy Callaghan added two more for Ballaghaderreen early in the second half. Niall Stack and Niall Quinn scored two more for Ballinasloe Town before the end.

Ballinasloe Town are now seven Points behind joint leaders Boyle Celtic and Moore United while Ballaghaderreen are in seventh place and battling to move away from the relegation area.

With the Premier Division being split into two sections St Johns Athletic can still make the top section but must beat Kilkerrin United in their remaining first round game.

They travelled to Moylough on Sunday and only a very late goal from Moylough denied them all three points. In a really close game Robby Shine gave St Johns Athletic a 1 – 0 lead with twenty three played. Moylough levelled the game before half time thanks to James Collevy. Karl Feerick restored the St Johns Athletic lead with ten minutes of normal time remaining but with eight minutes of injury time played Joseph Whyte got an equaliser for Moylough side

Ballinagare / Manor United picked up three valuable points in their chase for the Division 1 Championship when they beat Ballinasloe Town’s second side 3 – 0 at Ballinagare.
The sides were level at half time but goal poacher supreme Vando scored from close range to Give Ballinagare / Manor United a 1- 0 lead with sixty played. Eleven minutes later Aidan Dowd powered through the middle of the park before beating the Ballinasloe keeper and the same played sealed a win with nine minutes left to play when he took advantage on an inch perfect cross from Patrick O Connor.

Ballinagare / Manor United are now in joint second place with Cloonfad United and five points behind the leaders Shiven Rovers.

Ballaghaderreen advanced to the second round of the Connacht F A Women’s Shield following a comfortable 4 – 0 win over Ballinasloe Town at Ballinasloe. Rebecca Finan and Caoimhe Feeney scored two each for the winners.

In the reserve Division leaders Ballinagare / Manor United beat Cloonfad United 2 – 0 at Cloonfad. John Stokes and Daire Dowd scored for the winners.
