Roscommon and District League

With just one game left to play in the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League the winners will be decided when Boyle Celtic and Moore United play at Boyle. A win for Moore United will see them crowned League Champions while Boyle Celtic only need a draw.
Moore United faced a tricky game away to the Castleplunket side C P Ajax on Sunday but a good start saw them run out comfortable 5 – 1 winners. Rian Carpenter finished off a Jack Nevin cross after just five minutes of play. Within a few minutes Shane Petit made it 2 – 0 with a well struck free kick and Charles Nevin won and converted a penalty kick for the winners just before half time. The home side pulled a goal back just after the restart through Colm Earley. Jason Ryan set up Charles Nevin to score his second and Liam Ryan added a fifth for the winners following good play by Jack Nevin.
Congratulations are extended to Shiven Rovers and St Cuans / Ahascragh United who were crowned Division 1 and 2 Champions respectively last Sunday.
Shiven Rovers with a game to spare secured the Division 1 Championship and Promotion to the Premier Division following an impressive 4 – 0 win over Ballinagare/Manor United at Ballinagare.
Darragh Nolan scored two and Adam Farrell one to give the Newbridge side a 3 – 0 half time lead. Rory Cunningham added a fourth after the break.
St Cuans Ahascragh United travelled to Rahara and came away with the single point they required to be crowned Division 2 Champions and win promotion to Division 1 next season. A Shane Mc Cormack free kick gave Rahara Rovers a 1- 0 half time lead. With twenty minutes remaining Colin Concannon converted a penalty kick to give St Cuans / Ahascragh United the draw they required.
In the Premier Division Moylough and Ballaghaderreen drew 4 – 4 in an absolute thriller at Ballaghaderreen. Moylough were 4 – 0 up at half time but Ballaghaderreen continued to battle on and got an equaliser in almost the last kick of the game. James Foley scored three and Sean Mc Donagh one for Moylough with Bruce Holton Shairoze Akram Danny Browne and Domhnall Forrest scoring for Ballaghaderreen.
Skyvalley Rovers and Kilkerrin drew their final league game of the season at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell and both teams will play in Division 1 next season. Kevin Traynor gave Kilkerrin a 1 – 0 lead with just three minutes played when he converted a penalty kick. He added a second for his side after thirty minutes of play. Joe Rattigan pulled a goal back when he scored from the penalty spot early in the second half and Danny Doyle got an equaliser for Skyvalley Rovers with five minutes left to play.
Congratulations are extended to Kilkerrin United Ballaghaderreen F C and Shiven Rovers Women’s teams who had excellent wins in Connacht Women’s Competitions
Kilkerrin United travelled to Headford where they played the Galway League side Moyne Villa and came away with an impressive 3 – 0 win. The first half was really close with no goals scored. A fine volley from Caitlin Boyle gave Kilkerrin United a 1 – 0 lead early in the second half. The winners added a second shortly afterwards when Caoimhe Boyle got on the end of a Samantha Fahy corner kick. Aoife Collins added a third for the Kilkerrin women with twenty minutes left to play and they will now look forward to the Semi-Finals
Ballaghaderreen beat a fancied Athenry F C side 4 – 1 at Ballaghaderreen. Pauline O Grady scored two and Caoimhe Feeney and Jessica Feeney added one each.
Shiven Rovers travelled to Clarenbridge and beat the home side Colga F C following a penalty shoot-out. Shiven won the penalty shoot-out 3 – 2 after the game finished scoreless. Goal keeper Fiona O Brien saved three penalty kicks with Meadhbh O Brien Ciara Lally and Fiona O Brien converting the penalty kicks for the winners.
