Roscommon and District League Division 1 side Cloonfad United advanced to the sixth round of the Connacht Cup following a 3 – 0 win over Premier Division side Moylough at Cloonfad.
Playing with a strong wind in the first half Cloonfad United took the lead after six minutes of play. A long range free kick from Shane Fagan found its way to the Moylough net. Luke Ruane made it 2 – 0 for Cloonfad with a back post header after twenty minutes. Moylough continued to play some fine football but could not get past the home defence. Quick reaction from Mathew Frayne made it 3 – 0 for Cloonfad United with sixth two played and they are now through to the Quarter –Finals of the Connacht Cup.

In The Norios Premier Division Ballinasloe Town beat Ballaghaderreen 3 – 1 at Ballinasloe. Shane Duffy and Niall Stack gave Ballinasloe a 2 – 0 half time lead. Ballaghaderreen pulled a goal back through Sharoize Akram with fifty six played but Azeeze made sure of the win when he added a third for Ballinasloe Town with ten minutes left to play.

Shiven Rovers are within touching distance of the Division 1 Championship following a hard earned 2 -1 win over Dunmore Town at Newbridge. Rory Cunningham gave the winners a 1 – 0 lead after sixteen minutes following good play from Frank Kilcommins and Adam Farrell. Padraig Costello levelled the game from the penalty spot with ten minutes played in the second half.
Both teams had chances to score before a brilliantly taken goal by Adam Farrell won all three points for Shiven Rovers.

Ballymoe F C beat Dysart 5 – 3 at Ballymoe in a rather unusual game. James Corbett gave Dysart a 1 – 0 lead early in the game but Dan Malone levelled the game shortly afterwards. Conor Dolan and James Corbett added two more for Dysart before half time. However in the second half Ballymore scored four without reply from Dysart. Damien Goggins scored two and Adrian Collins and Mark Kilcommins one each.

The Glenamaddy side Glen Celtic continue their battle for the Division 2 Championship with a 3 – 1 win over Rahara Rovers at Rahara. In the Women’s League Cam Celtic beat Ballaghaderreen1 – 0 at Brideswell and they are now three points clear at the top of the points table with just two games left to play. This was an excellent game of football with both teams having improved immensely from the start of the season.
The two keepers were well tested in the first half but with fifteen minutes played in the second half Marion Nolan and Sarah O Rourke created an opening for Grace Hannon who scored the only goal of the game. Both teams created chances following the goal being scored but Cam Celtic held on to take all three points.
In the Connacht Shield both Women’s Quarter-Finals involving Shiven Rovers and Ballaghaderreen were postponed until next weekend.

The Roscommon and District League would like to extend our sincere condolences to the Cunningham Family and our former Chairman Tommy on the death of Jimmy Cunningham.
