The Roscommon & District Football League will host a friendly Amateur International between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland on Wednesday 14th September.

Gerry Davis stays focused for forthcoming games against Bohemians FC and Northern Ireland as preparation begin in earnest for the UEFA Regions Cup Qualifying games in Italy from Wednesday the 28th of September to Sunday the 2nd of October 2016.

First up the Rep. of Ireland Region 2 will play Bohemians in Abbotstown this Saturday at 4pm and this will give Gerry the chance to see his players perform in a match situation after three training sessions in Jackman Park and this will also give the eighteen named players the chance to start against hosts Italy on the 28th.

On Wednesday the 14th of September the Rep. of Ireland Region 2 will host Northern Ireland in a friendly International in John Sherlock Park, Lecarrow, Roscommon with a 7pm kick-off. Manager Gerry Davis will draft in Gary Neville (Pike Rovers) in place of Brendan O’ Connell who has work commitments and local lad Dominic Bligh (Castlerea Celtic) in place of Christoper Higgins,
The team are looking forward to the game in the excellent facilities at Lecarrow and they are hoping to get good local support in what will be their final game before departure to the UEFA Regions Cup.

Northern Ireland are only starting their preparations prior to their Qualifying Round in November and the game should provide a good work out for both teams. The Rep of Ireland Region 2 were dealt a body blow when inspirational defender Paul Breen of St. Michaels had to withdraw from the squad due to work commitments.
