Roscommon and District League Round Up by Vincent Brookes.

It was a rather quiet weekend for the Roscommon and District League with only a few back games due to be played. For the second time in a few weeks Kilkerrin United were effected by Covid 19 and their game against Boyle Celtic was postponed.

In the only game played in the Premier Division Ballinasloe Town were comfortable 3 – 0 winners over Moylough 79 at ballinasloe.
Darragh Concannon converted a penalty kick for the winners in the first half and Liam Lynch and Gary Canavan added two more after the break.

Skyvalley Rovers picked up all three points from their Division 1 game away to old rivals Shiven Rovers. The winners started well and created a few good chances in the first twenty minutes. From then on the Newbridge side were better and it was only in the last quarter of the game that Skyvalley Rovers regained the advantage. The all important goal was scored by Callum O Brien with eleven minutes left to play.

In Division 2 Dunmore Town continued their good run with a 1 – 0 win over St Cuans Ahascragh United at Dunmore. Shane Davis gave the home side a 1- 0 lead after twenty minutes. The visitors never gave up and seemed to to be on the way to scoring in the second half when they won a penalty kick. However Shane Geoghagen save the spot kick and Dunmore held out for the win.

Skyvalley Rovers and Ballymoe F C drew 3 – 3 in an entertaining game at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell.
Ballymoe started well and were 1 – 0 up after twenty minutes thanks to a strike from David Swift. Skyvalley Rovers suddenly found a new gear and scored three times in a fifteen minute spell before half time. Lee Clogher scored two and Conal Moore one. Unged on by their manager Seamus Connolly and his assistant Ballymoe battled on and won a penalty kick when David Swiwt was fouled with seventy five played. James Connaughton converted the resultant pot kick. Just when it seemed the home side had done enough to secure all three points Thomas Lambe scored an equaliser for Ballymoe in time added on at the end of the game.

Glen Celtic and Moore United will contest this seasons Masters Cup -Final following wins over Colemanstown and Castlerea Celtic respectively. Glen Celtic beat Colemanstown 1 – 0 at Glenamaddy and MooreUnited beat League winners Castlerea Celtic 2 – 1 at Moore.

Skyvalley Rovers were unlucky not to make it to the Cup Semi-Finals when beaten 4 – 3 by holders Colemanstown in a penalty shoot out after the game finished scoreless after extra time.
