The Premier Division of the Rosommon and District League is gradually getting into full swing and all the indications are that this season it will be a really exciting and close affair. Ballinasloe Town made it two wins out of three played when they beat Cloonfad United 2 – 1 at Cloonfad. The home side got off to the perfect start when Conor Flynn scored after two minutes. Liam Lynch, who was making his first start of the season, levelled the game after nine and J P Stephens gave them a deserved lead with fifty eight on the clock. Cloonfad were reduced to ten men with eleven left to play but despite this set back had a great chance to snatch an equaliser near the end.

Moylough 79 won one and drew one of their opening two games. They were impressive 6 – 2 winners over leaders Moore United at Moore. Before Moore woke up they were three goals behind with just fifteen played and while they improved after that period they could never make up for their poor start.
James Foley Leo Donnellan and a penalty from Patrick Kelly set Moylough on the way to an impressive win. James Byrne pulled a goal back for the home side but just before half time Michael Kelly struck a fourth for Moylough and the game as a contest was over. Tom Ward converted a penalty kick after Joe Looby was fouled to keep the home side in the game. Gerry Ward added their second near the end.

The Castleplunket side C P Ajax missed the chance to go top of the table when beaten 2 – 1 at home by a good Dunmore Town side. Dunmore started well and were 2 – 0 up at the break. Tom Byrne and Gavin Mullarkedy headed two fine goals for the winners. The home side were a different proposition in the second half and Darren Boyle pulled a goal back on the hour mark. Only some outstanding play from the Dunmore defence kept their goal in tact and they held out to take three valuable points.
