Roscommon and District League Round Up
Boyle Celtic continue to lead the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League following a hard earned 3 – 2 win over Castlerea Celtic at Boyle. The visitors took an early lead but the ever reliable Michael Corrigan soon scored an equaliser. Darren Foley gave the winners a 2 – 1 half time lead but Castlerea Celtic were well in the game and levelled the game early in the second half. A Dessie Carlos corner kick found its way to the Castlerea Celtic net midway through the second half and it required all their experience and a bit of luck to hold on for all three points.

The Castleplunket side C P Ajax had an impressive 1 – 0 win over last season’s runners up Ballinasloe Town at Ballinasloe and they are now second in the table one point behind the leaders. The visitors had two great chances to take the lead in the first half but failed to score. The talented Paul Mee volleyed a fine goal after sixty minutes of play and for the remainder on the game the Castleplunket side defended well to take all three points.

Moore United are very much in the title race and they had a comfortable 4 – 0 win over Skyvalley Rovers at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. They are three points behind the leaders but with a game less played. The sides were reasonably well matched for the first thirty minutes but Skyvalley then conceded three soft goals before half time. Charles Nevin Josh Lennon and Liam Ryan scored their goals. After the break the losers had a couple of good chances to get back in the game before Charles Nevin got his second near the end and ended any hopes of a comeback by the losers,

In the lower half of the Premier Division Ballaghaderreen F C had an important 4 – 1 win over Kilkerrin United at Ballaghaderreen.
Brian Miskell gave Kilkerrin a 1 – 0 lead after five minutes of play but Danny Browne scored two for the home side before half time. Usama Israr and Cathal Horan added two more after the break to give the home side a comfortable win

Shiven Rovers remain top of the Division 1points table following a 7 – 0 win over Dysart at Newbridge. The talented home side got off to a great start and were 6 – 0 ahead at the break. Keith Murphy scored three and Daragh Nolan and Adam Farrell scored two each for the winners.

Cam Celtic are in second place three points behind the leaders. They beat Ballinasloe Tons second side 3 – 1 at Brideswell.
Played in ideal conditions at Brideswell this morning Cam Celtic came out on top in this very entertaining game. The home team were first to score with an excellent free kick from outside the box by Jack McDonnell, this was closely followed ten minutes later with an excellent header to the roof of the net by attacking midfielder Robbie Fallon to leave the half time score 2 - 0. Ballinasloe started the second half better and were beginning to dominate at midfield and a mix up in the Cam defence resulted in the ball beating the outstretched hand of helpless keeper Billy Mc Donnell. Following the introduction of some fresh legs to the home team's midfield helped them get a grip and they finished with a further score from an excellent headed goal from a corner by Gareth Mulligan to leave the final score Cam Celtic 3 Ballinasloe B 1.

Cloonfad United and Ballinagare/ Manor United drew 1 – 1 at Cloonfad in a game that both teams needed to win to stay in contention for the Division 1 title. The game was really close with defences on top. The visitors came closest to scoring on two occasions but it was Cloonfad United who took the lead with sixty four minutes played through Luke Mc Dermott. Ballinagare / Manor United never gave up and Vando had a volley that came back off the Cloonfad United cross bar. With eighty five played a twenty meter volley from Paul Kenny was diverted to the Cloonfad United net by the talented Vando.

In the only game due to be played in Division 2 Glen Celtic closed the gap on leaders St Cuans Ahascragh United to three points with a hard earned 2 – 1 win over Dunmore B at Dunmore. Jonathan Harte and Willie Comer scored for the winners.

In the second round of the Women’s Connacht Cup Roscommon and District League side Kilkerrin United had an impressive 3 – 0 win over Dynamo Blues away at Tuam. Sarah Ward Caitlin Boyle and Samantha Fahy gave the Kilkerrin side a 3 - 0 half time lead and they were always in control for the remainder of the game.

Castlerea Celtic were beaten 4 – 0 at home by the Mayo side Manulla F C. Jess Nolan rocked the home side with two early goals for the visitors and was instrumental in the next two before half. The Castlerea Celtic girls who lacked the experience of the visitors were much better in the second half and will have learned from this experience.

In the Women’s League Ballaghaderreen Fc beat St Cuans Ahascragh United 8 -2 at Ahascragh. Sinead Daly scored both goals for the losers.
