Roscommon and District League Round Up
Roscommon and District League Premier Division side Ballinasloe Town are through to the Connacht Cup Simi Finals following an impressive 3-1 win over the Galway Premier side Corrib Rangers at Galway. The home side were 1- 0 up at half time but within two minutes of the restart Jordan Carr levelled the game. Mike Lynch headed Ballinasloe in front after sixty one and a super volley from Garry Egan secured the win for Ballinasloe Town.

Division 1 side Shiven Rovers are through to the Connacht Shield final thanks to a hard earned 3 – 2 win over fellow Division 1 side Dunmore Town at Newbridge. Dunmore were the better side in the first half and were 2 – 0 ahead at the break thanks to goals from Declan Ford and Dylan Fallon. Shiven were a much better side in the second half and Cathal Dinnan got his hat trick to secure a place for the Newbridge side in the Simi-Finals

Boyle Celtic continue their quest for the Norios Premier Division following a 3 – 0 win over Ballaghaderreen at Boyle earlier in the week and a 6- 0 win over Cloonfad United on Sunday. In their game against Ballaghaderreen the home side were well on top in the first half and while Ballaghaderreen were much better after the break they never looked like making up the three goal deficit. Shane Battles opened the scoring and Michael Corrigan added a second with Shane Battles making it 3 – 0 before half time.
Against Cloonfad Shane Battles and an Own Goal gave Boyle a 2 – 0 half time lead. Shane Battles added three more and Gerard Mc Dermott Roe one in the second half.

Earlier in the week Cloonfad United beat Ballymoe 3 – 1 at Cloonfad. The home side were 3 – 0 up early in the game and ran out comfortable winners. Conor Flynn scored two and James Mc Donagh one for the winners and Damien Goggins replied for the losers.
Ballymoe lost their second game of the weekend and now have real relegation worries. Gavin Conway gave Ballaghaderreen a half time lead and while Damien Goggins levelled the game with eight played in the second half Rosa Mc Dermott, Danny Browne and Gavin Conway added three more for Ballaghaderreen.

In the only game played in Division 1 Ballinagare Manor United beat Roscommon United 3 – 2 on Thursday evening. Gerry Ward Tom Ward and James Mc Donnell gave the winners a 3 – 0 half time lead and they held on to win.

In the Division 2 battle for promotion Skyvalley Rovers beat Cloonfad United 4 – 0 at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. Kenneth Kenny volleyed the home side into the lead after thirty five minutes and Jamie Donoghue added an equally good goal after sixty seven. Darragh Moore headed a third and David Grehan a fourth before the end of the game.

More United “B” beat Boyle Celtic “B” 4 – 2 at Boyle. Michael McManus got on the end of a David hussy free kick to give Moore a 1 – 0 lead after thirteen minutes. Jason Cunningham added a second three minutes later and Jamie Curley made it 3 – 0 with Dermott Beggan pulling one back before half time Mc Manus and Beggan added one each after the break.

St Cuans /Ahascragh United drew 2 – 2 with Ballymoe B at Ahascragh. Owen Gavin and Tommy Mc Donagh scored for the home side. Jack Donnellan and Jason Kirrane replied for the Ballymoe side.

Dunmore Town second side beat St Johns Athletic 2- 1 at Dunmore. Darragh Keely and James Maloney were the Dunmore goal scorers. Jamie Tiernan replied for the losers.

In round 2 of the Challenge Cup Cam Celtic go through to the next round following a penalty shoot out win over Ballaghaderreen second side. The game finished 1 – 1 at the end of normal time and 3 – 2 at the end of the penalty shoot- out. Ben Moran in normal time and Diarmuid Colgan, Sean Doyle and Brian Curley scored from the penalty spot.
