Roscommon and District League Round Up
Boyle Celtic continues to lead the Norios Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League after they beat mid table Moore United 8 – 2 at Boyle. While the game was not as one sided as the score suggests none the less Boyle Celtic were always in control. Goals from Michael Corrigan, Finbar Cregg, Darren Foley and Shane Battles gave the winners a 4 – 0 half time lead. Mark Gannon and Michael Mc Manus pulled two back for a battling Moore United but in the closing stages Shane Battles added two and Louis Garvin one for the winners with an own goal making up their total.

Ballinasloe Town are just three points behind the leaders with a game less played. They were pushed all the way by a weakened Ballaghaderreen side before coming out on top on a 4 – 2 score line. Ryan Burke headed in a Jordan Carr cross- and a Jordan Carr free kick gave them a 2 – 0 half time lead. Danny Browne pulled one back for the visitors with five played in the second half. Aidan Dooney restored the two goal advantage after sixty five minutes but Cormac Rushe replied for Ballaghaderreen ten minutes later. With five minutes remaining Niall Stack sealed all three points for Ballinasloe Town when he scored with an excellent volley

Kilkerrin United dropped two valuable points when held to a 1- 1 draw away to relegation threatened Castlerea Celtic and now drop to third place. Kilkerrin were the better side in the first half and went ahead after thirty eight minutes. Sean Collins created an opening for Declan Murphy to score.
Castlerea Celtic were better in the second half with Aaron Mc Dermott Padraig Joyce and Ronan Curran prominent. Their keeper Sean Ryan made a number of good saves to keep them in the game. With twenty left to play Ronan Curran was taken down and he converted from the resultant penalty.

Ballymoe FC and Moylough drew 2 -2 at Ballymoe. Moylough took an early lead through Pierce Townsend but the ever reliable Damien Goggins scored for Ballymoe after thirty three minutes of play. Gerard Connaughton added a second for Ballymoe just before half time with Pierce Townsend scoring his second with fifteen minutes played in the second half to secure a point for Moylough.

Skyvalley Rovers look set for a return to the Premier Division next season following a 3 – 0 win over leaders Ballinasloe Town at Ballinasloe. They are now a point clear at the top of the points table but still have two games left to play. Callum O Brien headed a corner kick to the net after fifteen minutes of play. Paul Mc Manus added a second with sixty five played and Eoghan Keogh completed the scoring with fourteen minutes remaining.

Shiven Rovers kept up their good run of results when they beat Dysart 4 – 2 at Newbridge. Andy Higgins gave Dysart a 1 – 0 lead after twenty minutes of play but Adam Farrell levelled the game after thirty seven. Cathal Dinan added two more for the winners with twenty played in the second half and Keith Murphy converted a penalty kick for the winners before James Mannion scored a second or Dysart with six minutes left to play.

Roscommon United had a valuable 1- 0 win over Dunmore Town at Roscommon. Jamie Bracken converted a penalty kick for Roscommon United in the last minute of the game to snatch all three points.

Ballaghaderreen secured a 0 – 0 draw away to St Johns Athletic to keep them in the driving seat for the Division 2 Title.

Dunmore Town had a 3 – 0 win over Skyvalley Rovers at Dunmore. Gerard Higgins Aaron O Connell and Thomas Gleeson scored their goals.

In the Division 2 Shield- Rahara Rovers, Ballymoe and Moore United are all in contention with just one round of games left to play. Moore United go top with a win over Ballymoe.

Rahara Rovers are two points behind with a game less played following a 1 – 0 win over Boyle Celtic at Rahara. Paul Flaherty scored the only goal of the game following a Jack Naughton throw with sixty five played.

A second half Garry Mongan goal won all three points for St. Cuans / Ahascragh United away to Roscommon United.
