Roscommon and District League Round Up
Roscommon and District League side Ballinasloe Town travelled to Limerick where they played Pike Rovers in the sixth Round of the FAI Centenary Cup. The very talented home side are favourites to win this competition and it was always going to be a big ask for Ballinasloe Town to make the Quarter-Finals. Aaron Murphy gave the home side a second half lead following a corner Kick. Ballinasloe Town had a great chance to level the game shortly afterwards when they were awarded a penalty kick but Garry Egan missed from the penalty spot. Conor Layng added a second for Pike Rovers near the end to seal their win

Kilkerrin United maintained their place t the top of the Norio’s Premier Division following a hard earned 2 – 1 win over third placed Boyle Celtic at Kilkerrin. After being beaten by St Johns Athletic in their previous match Kilkerrin who were reduced to ten men for a long period of the game battled on to take all three points. Jonathan Ryan rounded the Boyle Keeper after ten minutes to give Kilkerrin the lead. With thirty played he added a second with a well struck free kick. Great work by Eoin Martin, Cian Carton, Willie Murphy and Brian Mc Dermott kept Boyle at bay until near the end when an own goal gave them a chance but it came much too late for them to get an equaliser.
Castlerea Celtic were beaten 2 – 1 at home by a strong Moylough 79 side and their relegation worries continue. Moylough were the better side in the first half and only some good saves by Nail Connaughton kept the home side in the game. Jack Higgins came close to scoring for Castlerea with a well struck free kick but just before half time Dermott Hughes broke the deadlock when he scored for Moylough. James Collevy added a second for the winners with a well struck corner kick and while Ryan Higgins pulled a goal back for Castlerea Celtic with five minutes remaining it came too late and Moylough held on to take all three points.
The battle for the Division 1 title continues with five teams still in contention.
Second placed and favourites C P Ajax were beaten 2 – 1 by Shiven Rovers at Newbridge. Darren Boyle gave the Castleplunket side a 1- 0 lead with thirty five played but the reliable Keith Murphy levelled the game five minutes later. The side were well matched for the rest of the game but with just two minutes remaining Cathal Dinnan got on the end of a Padraig Delaney pass to win all three points for Shiven Rovers.
Skyvalley Rovers were beaten 4 – 2 at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. The visitors were the more determined side and fully deserved the three points. Dysart went in front after fifteen minutes when James Corbett headed the ball to the unmarked Andy Higgins who headed to the net. With forty two played Callum O Brien latched onto a poor back pass and rounded the keeper before levelling the game. Two minutes later Dysart regained the lead. Daniel Kelly and Adam Cummins created an opening for James Corbett who gave the home keeper no chance when he drilled the ball to the Skyvalley net. Callum O Brien levelled the game with a spectacular free kick nine minutes into the second half but Dysart got two goals on the break thanks to Cathal Mears and a Niall Corbett penalty kick after Andy Higgins was fouled.

Dunmore Town beat Glen Celtic 1 -0 at Glenamaddy. Gavin Mullarkey scored the only goal of the game.
In Division 2 Moore United beat Roscommon United 3 – 1 at Moore. Kamil Podpryga gave the Roscommon Town side a 1 – 0 lead after thirty two minutes but Andy Hussey levelled the game five minutes later. Shane Kenny and Michael Mc Manus added two more for Moore before the end.
St Cuans /Ahascragh United and Rahara Rovers drew 1 = 1 in their game at Ahascragh, Ryan Cox gave Rahara a first half lead with goalkeeper Michelin Fogarty levelling the game in the last minute.
In the Joes Bar sponsored Challenge Cup Round 1 Cam Celtic are through to the next round after a hard earned penalty shoot-out win over Dunmore “B” With no scores in normal or extra time the game went to a penalty shoot out. The Cam Celtic Keeper Cormac Harney pulled off two great saves and Gareth Mulligan, Keelan Byrne, Robbie Fallon and David Cunniffe converted their kicks for 4 – 2 win.
In The remaining game Boyle second round are through to the next round thanks to a 2 = 1 win over Cloonfad “B” at Cloonfad. Reece Shanley scored both goals for Boyle with Michael Regan scored for Cloonfad,
