Castlerea Celtic maintained their two point lead at the top of the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League following a hard earned 1 - 0 win over Moylough 79 at Moylough. Peter Farrell gave Castlerea Celtic a 1 - 0 lead in the second half but all the drama was reserved for the last five minutes. Moylough were awarded a penalty kick and the Castlerea keeper sent off. On came John Mc Hugh who saved the penalty kick and then pulled off two more stunning saves in the remaining few minutes to maintain Castlerea Celtic's lead at the top of the points table with just two games left to play.

Second placed St Peters Athlone picked up three valuable points from their game away to a Ballinasloe Town side who are out of contention for the Premier Division Championship. Playing with the aid of a strong wind n the first half St Peters had the majority of play but still only created one real chance when a Darragh Concannon free kick was headed by man of the match Mark Sherlock but the Ballinasloe keeper Maloney saved well.. After the break Ballinasloe looked much better with their young strikers and Ryan Burke in particular causing problems for the Peters defence. With just seven played in the second half a Conor Duignan cross from the left wing reached Mark Sherlock at the back post and he side footed to the Ballinasloe net. The lack of experience cost the home side an equaliser within minutes with the ball rolling along the Peters goal line but nobody on hand to tap into the net. Mark Hehir ended the game as a contest when he added a second for the winners with thirty seven played following a neat cross by the experienced Mark Sherlock.

Ballymoe F C eased their relegation worries with a 1 - 1 draw with Boyle Celtic at Boyle. Damien Goggins gave the visitors a 1 - 0 lead after thirty seven minues of play but good work by Brendan Mc Cann created an opening for Shane Battles to level the game in the last minute of the first half.

Any fears St Johns Athletic had of relegation from the Premier Division were banished when they beat Shiven Rovers 2 - 1 at Lecarrow. Jamie Kiernan scored for the winners in the first half and Eamon Harney added their second with sixty six played.James Mulrooney pulled a goal back for Shiven Rovers with three minutes of extra time played.

Moore United advanced to the fourth round of the T P Brennan Sponsored Connacht Cup following a penalty shoot out win over the Galway Division 1 side Chois Fharraige at Ros a Mhil. The young Moore side were a goal behind early in the game but struck back with a goal from Andy Hussey. Charles Nevin added a second for Moore United early in the second half with the home side levelling the game with ten minutes left to play.There were no scores in extra time and the game went to a penalty shoot out with Moore winning 4 - 2.

The first round of the Joe Bar sponsored Challenge Cup was player over the weekend with only teams from Division 1 and 2 involved.

In an all Division 1 clash Dysart beat Roscommon United 1 - 0 at Roscommon. Young Cathal Mears scored the only goal of the game.

Ballaghaderreen second side fully tested the Division 1 leaders Cloonfad United at Ballaghaderreen. The home side were 2 - 0 up after nine minutes thanks to Sean Smith and Cameron Lunt. Cloonfad quickly recovered and John Noone struck two and Dean Lyons from the penalty spot and Nigel Prendergast from play to give Cloonfad a 4 - 2 interval lead. The loosers missed two good chances to level the game in the second half.

The Castleplunket side C P Ajax beat Roscommon United second side 3 - 0 to advance to round two. The sides were level at half time but shortly after the restart Timmy Fitzmaurice scored two and Mike Kerrane added a third to end the Town sides challenge.

Division 2 leaders Glen Celtic beat Cam Celtic 4 - 0 at Glenamaddy. Jason Connelly gave the winners a 1 - 0 lead at half time. Shane Mannion added a second before Ryan Mc Hugh added two more before the end.

Rahara Rovers had a convincing 3 - 0 win over Castlerea Celtic's second side at Castlerea. Shane Mc Cormack gave Rahara the lead with twenty played and Marcos and Dylan Donnelly added two more in the second half.

In a kind of a local derby game St Cuans beat Ballinasloe Town "B" 3 - 1 at Castleblaikney.The visitors were a goal up at haf time thanks to Shane Carrig but Jordan O Leary scored three times for St Cuans in the second half.

Boyle "B" beat Manor United 3 - 2 in their cup game and advance to the second round.
Manor seemed to have won as the game entered extra time but Boyle struck twice in time added on.Daniel Hughes Luke Glennon and Darren Conlon scored for the winners and Paddy Mc Cormack scored both goals for Manor United.

In an all Division 2 clash Cloonfad United "B" were beaten 3 - 2 by Ballymoe "B" at Cloonfad. The home side were 2 - 0 up thanks to Jack Reinhard but conceed an own goal before Darragh Gunning and Dan Malone won the game for the Ballymoe side.

Moore B advanced to round two after a penalty shoot out win over St Johns Athletic second side at Moore .
Balaghaderreen's first side received a walk over Skyvalley Rovers second side.
