Roscommon and District League Round Up by Vincent Brookes.

Castlerea Celtic go top of the Raftery's Oakland Hotel sponsored Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League following a 4 - 1 win over Dysart at Castlerea. Gerry Ward gave the home side a 1 - 0 lead from the penalty spot after twenty-minutes of play. The same player added a second twelve minutes later. With thirty-seven played a fine passing move involving Diarmuid Coyne and Keith Waldron created an opening for Peter Cummins who scored his first competitive goal for Dysart. After the break some defensive frailties allowed Gerry Ward to complete his hat trick and Eoghan O'Connell completed the scoring for the winners with sixty-five played.

In a thrilling game at Strokestown the home side lost 4 - 3 to St. Peter's, Athlone. Noel McGee gave the home side an early lead but Michael Kavanagh, Darren Clabby and Conor Devaney scored for Strokestown to give them a half time lead. In the second half Noel McGee completed his hat trick and Mark Sherlock added a fourth to win all three points for St Peter's.

Ballinasloe Town came out on top in a six goal thriller against Cloonfad United at Ballinasloe. Aidan Dooney gave the home side a 1 - 0 lead but Cloonfad then struck two through Cian Ruane and Conor Flynn to give them the lead with sixty played. Two injuries upset Cloonfad with Daryl Finn, Aidan Dooney and Shane Duffy added three more for Ballinasloe Town before the end.

Newly promoted Kilkerrin United made it four games undefeated when they drew 1 - 1 at home with Shiven Rovers. Shane Delaney headed the Newbridge side in front after thirty eight minutes and the ever reliable Aidan Kitt levelled the game when he scored for Kilkerrin United with twenty minutes left to play.

In the local derby game at Falty, Moore United and Skyvalley Rovers drew 3 - 3. The home side went in front in the first minute of the game when Paul Kelly scored from close range. Tom Butler replied for Skyvalley Rovers when he scored from close range following a free kick. Mike Donoghue gave the Taughmaconnell side a 2 - 1 half time lead. Andy Nevin levelled the game after sixty two played but David Grehan won and converted a penalty kick for Skyvalley Rovers with fifteen left to play. However within a minute Charles Nevin created an opening for Liam Ryan to level the game.

In the Norio's Takeaway sponsored Division One Ballaghaderreen beat Rahara Rovers 4 - 1 at Ballaghaderreen. Oisin Horan, Cian McCann, Rhys Keenan and Shane Towey scored for the winners and Vando scored a consolation goal for the losers with two minutes left to play. All the scores came in the second half.

Ballinasloe Town and Cam Celtic drew 2 - 2 at Ballinasloe. David McDonell opened the scoring for the home side but Keith Dolan and Eoin McCormack added two well taken scores for Cam Celtic. David Flynn added his second for the Ballinasloe side before half time and while both teams created good chances in the second half it was the two goal keepers who came out on top.

In the Killeen Sports Grounds Division Two, Glen Celtic picked up three valuable points when they beat Roscommon United 3 - 1 at Glenamaddy. In a good game of football neither team could score in the first half but after the break Ryan McHugh got a hat trick for the home side before Thomas Hanley pulled one back for a Roscommon side who are really missing the injured Jamie Bracken.

St. Cuan's United from Castleblakeney beat the Cloonfad United second side 4 - 2 at Castleblakeney. Jordan O'Leary scored three for the winners with two of them coming from the penalty spot. Colin Concannon added a fourth for the winners before the break. After the break it was like father, like son when Kurt Reinhardt scored for Cloonfad and his son Jack Reinhardt scored a second for the losers.
