Congratulations are extended to Castlerea Celtic who won the Roscommon and District League Masters Cup over the weekend.They beat League Champions Colemanstown 1 – 0 at Glenamaddy in the final. The teams were very cautious early on but as the game progressed Castlerea Celtic midfield with Mark Tully in fine form gained the advantage.Just before the break a Mark Tully pass split the Colemanstown defence and Mervin Kelly scored the only goal of the game.The winners had chances in the second half with Conor Mc Sharry Patrick Egan and a stunning free kick by Giles Mc Donagh almost adding more scores. Colemanstown came close to levelling the game near the end but the crossbar saved the winners who had the man of the match in Damien Garvey.

In the Premier Division of the Roscommon and District League Champions St Peters Athlone started their campaign with a 1 – 0 win over Kilkerrin United. It was a good result for a St Peters side who lost some of last seasons players but still fielded a winning side. Mark Hehir scored the ony goad of the game with ten minutes left to play.

Boyle Celtic had a hard earned 1 – 0 win over Ballymoe at Ballymoe. Shane Battles scored the only goal of the game after twenty minutes of play. Ballymoe had good chances to level the game but Boyle Celtic held on to take all three points.

Skyvalley Rovers beat newly promoted Moylough 79 3 – 2 at Onagh Park Taughmaconnell. The visitors were in front after fifteen minutess of play when Aridas forced the ball over the goal line from close range. Six minutes later Eoin Keogh volled an equaliser for Skyvalley Rovers. Within three minutes Mike Donoghue headed a second for the home side following an Adrian Mannion corner kick. Good work by young Connal Moore won a corner kick for Skyvalley Rovers with sixty five played and this time Cathal Kelly headed Adrian Mannions corner kick to the net. Sean Kelly pulled a goal back for Moylough with five minutes left to play but the home side held out to take all three points.

St Johns Athletic traveled to Falty Park and beat Moore United 2 -1 in a game that either side could have won. Both teams came close to scoring in the first half but it took a defencive mix up after fifty three minutes that resulted in an own goal to give St Johns the lead.
With seventy five played a Charles Nevin corner kick was headed to the St Johns net by his brother Andy to level the game.The talented Tommy Hurley created an opening for his broter Chris to score the winner for the Lecarrow side with seven minutes left to play.

Cloonfad United had an impressive 4 – 0 win over Rahara Rovers at Rahara. Sonny McAnulty gave them a 1 – 0 lead and in the second half it was the young and talented Dean Lyons,playing his first game for the first team, who got a hat trick for his side.

Roscommon United had a 10- 2 win over a weakened Dunmore Town side. Jamie Bracken scored seven and Vando added three more.

Ballaghaderreen made it two wins from two when they beat Cam Celtic 6 – 1 at Cam. James Dowd and Danny Browne gave the winners a 2 – 0 half time lead. In the second half Danny Browne completed his hat trick and James Dowd and Patrick Callaghan added two more. Gareth Mulligan replied for Cam Celtic.

Dysart made it two wins out of two when they beat the Castleplunket side C P Ajax 3 – 1 at Tarmon. With father and son J P and Daniel Kelly in their side Dysart came away with three valuable points. Peter Cummins gave Dysart a half time lead and Enda Jordan added a second with an hour played. Damien Boyle gave the home side hope of a come back with fifteen left to play but within three minutes Keith Moore scored a third for the winners.

In Division 2 the Glenamaddy side Glen Celtic beat Cloonfad united 3 – 0 in their Division 2 game played at Cloonfad. The sides were level with twenty minutes remaining. However Michael Heneghan scored two and an own goal made it three before the end.

Moore second side beat Roscommon United second side 4 – 2 at Moore. Cormack Callinan opened the scoring for Moore but the visitors were 2 – 1 ahead at the break.Mike Carthy scored two and Andy Hussey one to give Moore United all three Points. Bartek and Aaron Burgoyne replied for the losers who were having their first competive outing.

Manor United beat Ballaghaderreen 4 – 3 at Ballaghaderreen. The home side were 3 – 1 ahead at half time but a much improved Manor side scored three more after the break. Cameron Lunt scored two and Joe Duffy one for the losers with Tom Ward scoring two and Iago Alvis and Fabio Henrique replying for Manor United.

Skyvalley Rovers travelled to Boyle where they played the home side. There was little between the teams for most of the game but at the end Skyvalley Rovers were 2 – 1 ahead. Luke Glennon took advantage on an early through ball after ten minutes to give the home side a 1- 0 lead. While the visitors recovered quickly and created some scoring chances it was fifteen minutes into the second half before Cathal got the equaliser with a fine volley after beating two defenders. With twenty five left to play substitute Sean Kenny finished cooly to win all three points for the Taughmaconnell side.

St Cuans beat St Johns Athletic 2- 1 at Lecarrow. Jordan O Leary converted a penalty kick for the winners before Jamie Kiernan levelled the game. David Hanrahan scored the winner with ten minutes remaining.
